How to check the safety valve of an autoclave

Feb 15, 2016

During the use of autoclaves, safety valves and air release valves are very important safety equipment. In order to ensure the normal operation of these equipment, regular inspection and maintenance should be carried out.

For safety valves, you can check them according to the following steps:

First, you need to check the sealing condition of the safety valve to ensure there is no leakage. You can use soapy water to apply to the sealing area of the safety valve and observe whether there are bubbles coming out. If there are any, it means that the sealing gasket or the safety valve needs to be replaced.

Next, the opening pressure and opening speed of the safety valve need to be tested. You can use a manual control valve to adjust the pressure to the opening pressure of the safety valve, and observe whether the safety valve can open in time and whether the opening speed meets the requirements. If abnormalities are found, the safety valve needs to be repaired or replaced in time.

Clean and maintain the safety valve regularly to ensure that its surface is clean and free of rust and that its internal parts are operating normally.

For the bleed valve, you can check it by following these steps:

Check the position and condition of the bleed valve. Make sure the bleed valve is in the correct position and has not been misinstalled or damaged.

Check the leakage valve seal. Make sure the purge valve does not leak when working by checking the sealing condition of the purge valve.

Test the response time of the bleed valve. By testing the response time of the purge valve, ensure that the purge valve can be opened in time to release pressure after the equipment is sterilized.

Maintenance of the safety valve and bleed valve of the autoclave should be carried out in accordance with the equipment instructions. Generally, the seals on these devices need to be inspected and replaced regularly to ensure they are functioning properly. At the same time, care should be taken not to subject these devices to excessive wear or damage during the use of the sterilizer.
