A brightfield microscope consists of several parts, including
Eyepieces (Eyepieces) – It has two eyepieces at the top of the microscope that focus the image from the objective lens. Here you can see the image formed with your eyes.
An objective lens is composed of six or more glass lenses, which allows a clear image from the specimen or object being focused.
There are two focusing knobs on the microscope arm, namely the fine adjustment knob and the coarse adjustment knob, which can move the stage or objective lens to focus the image. Their function is to ensure the production of crisp, clear images.
The stage, located below the objective lens, is where the sample is placed, a flexible knob allows the sample to be moved around for better viewing, and is where the light is focused.
Condenser: Installed under the stage to focus the beam onto the sample. It can be fixed or removable to adjust the quality of light, but it all depends on the microscope.
Arm: This is the strong metal frame of the microscope and is used to move the microscope from one place to another. They also hold the microscope base, which serves as a microscope stand. The arms and base hold all the microscopic parts in place.
It has an illuminator or a mirror at its base or on the nose of the microscope.
The nosepiece has approximately two to five objectives with varying magnifications. It can be moved to any position based on the objective lens to focus the image.
Aperture diaphragm (contrast): It controls the diameter of the beam passing through the condenser. When the condenser is almost closed, light reaches the center of the condenser, resulting in high contrast; when the condenser is wide open, the image is very bright and has low contrast.
