1.0 Goal
Develop operating and calibration procedures for the microscope and ensure that the instrument is functioning properly.
2.0 range
This SOP applies to the operating and calibration procedures of the microscope and ensures that the instrument is functioning properly.

5.0 Program
5.1 Routine cleaning procedures
Clean the instrument with a clean, dry cloth every day. Sometimes a damp cloth with a weak soapy solution can be used. Precautions must be taken to clean the instrument immediately with a dry cloth to remove moisture.
5.2 Operating procedures
5.2.1 Turn the main switch and power switch of the voltage control instrument to "ON".
5.2.2 Adjust the strength of the voltage control dial.
5.2.3 Place the material/sample of interest on a glass slide and spread it evenly with the help of another glass slide and cover with a coverslip.
5.2.4 Place the slide in the slide rack on the stage and center it.
5.2.5 Rotate the objective lens holder to select a suitable objective lens, and adjust the focus of the sample through the coarse adjustment and fine adjustment knobs of the eyepiece.
5.2.6 For glass slides, apply a drop of oil immersed in oil to the smear, bring it into contact with the oil, adjust the 100x objective, and observe through the eyepieces with fine adjustments.
5.2.7 After completing the work, remove the slide from the slide holder, turn off the light, and clean the microscope with a clean, dry cloth.
5.3 Calibrating the ophthalmoscope using a microscope
5.3.1 Place the stage micrometer (minimum count is 0.01mm) on the slide rack (stage).
5.3.2 Replace the eyepiece of the microscope with an eye tracker.
5.3.3 Use different magnifying glasses (10x, 40x and 100x) to fix the ** mark of the eye tracker on the ** mark of the stage micrometer.
5.3.4 Calculate the minimum number of eye trackers using the formula for each (x) of the objective given below.
Stage micrometer markings
Number x 0.01x1000 Minimum count of photometer (µm) = -------------------------------- --- ----------------------------------
The eye tracker's marker number matches the stage micrometer
5.3.5 Record the results according to Appendix 1.
5.3.6 Report any discrepancies discovered during operation of the instrument to the Quality Control Manager and notify the engineering department/service engineer of the defect for correction. Stick the "UNDER MAINTENANCE" label on the instrument.
